Shopee, the Philippines’ foremost eCommerce platform, achieved a remarkable 50x surge in orders through Shopee Live during its highly successful 12.12 Mega Pamasko Sale. As the festive season envelops the nation, the first two minutes of this much-anticipated sale witnessed an astounding 12 million items sold on Shopee Live across various markets.

Integral to local holiday celebrations is the cherished tradition of ‘monito-monita,’ or the joyous exchange of surprise gifts that typically extends over several days. Amidst the frequent need to purchase gifts and the bustling holiday rush, consumers turned to live-stream shopping to efficiently complete their shopping lists. This surge catapulted Shopee Live to attract 46 times more new buyers locally, collectively saving shoppers an impressive PHP509 million, thanks to substantial discounts facilitated through partnerships with brands and sellers.

“Shopping on the platform has become part of the Filipinos’ purchasing behavior, especially during key celebrations. The holiday season is an integral part of the Filipino culture, and we are happy to be part of this special tradition of giving. This is why we continue to find ways to provide both our buyers and sellers a more entertaining and rewarding shopping experience — and the great success achieved by Shopee Live during the 12.12 Mega Pamasko Sale is a testament to one of the many ways we continue to innovate,” according to Vincent Lee, Head of Shopee Philippines. In addition, a whopping 2.3 million entries poured into the 12.12 Shopee Live Milyonaryo, where lucky winners can potentially walk away with up to one million pesos.

As the year draws to a close, Filipinos eagerly anticipate year-end bonuses, signaling the opportune moment to make significant purchases, procure gifts for loved ones, or indulge in well-deserved self-rewards after a year of hard work. Reflecting this trend, Home & Living items emerged as the top best-selling category, closely followed by Women’s Apparel and Mobile Accessories.

The holiday season also provides a legitimate excuse for some retail therapy. Whether it be preparing for holiday parties, refreshing wardrobes, or embracing early resolutions for a skincare routine, Filipinos embraced this opportunity. This translated into a significant 5x upswing in orders within the Fashion, and Health & Beauty categories. Noteworthy brands such as Uni-Care, Maybelline, and Issy & Co. emerged as top performers with the highest number of orders platform-wide. Meanwhile, o.two.o.ph, Uni-Care, and Lovito.ph secured the highest number of orders on Shopee Live.

Even with the holiday shopping spree, Filipinos demonstrated prudence by wisely investing in top-selling essentials like face masks, organic baby wipes, and 3-in-1 twin coffee packs.

The 12.12 Mega Pamasko Sale, originally slated to conclude on 12 December 2023, has been extended until 15 December 2023. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to shop now and enjoy free shipping with no minimum spend, exclusive 70% off on Pamasko Deals from a diverse array of brands and sellers, and Shopee Mall Outlet deals boasting discounts of up to 90% off!
