Earlier today, eight (08) of the twelve (12) Pinoy ReMo’s (Mozilla Representatives) gathered at Burgoo Gateway Mall (Cubao, Quezon City) to discuss the future of the Mozilla Philippines Community over a MozCoffee (and some snacks). We decided to bring the regular MozCoffee north of the National Capital Region this time.

Present were Mozilla Philippines Community Manager Eusebio “Jun” Barrun Jr., Jean Austin Rodriguez, Kemuel Joseph Domanog, Melchor Compendio, Allan Caeg, Aaron Joshua Cajes, Faye Tandog, and Community Acting Secretary Kathleen Joyce Domanog (ReMo applicant; sister of Kemuel). Did I mentioned that it was the very first MozCoffee this year attended by Faye & Aaron? We missed these two dearly in the past MozCoffee sessions.

I cannot simply post here the exact details of the meeting, but to give you a gist of what we had discussed:

  • Team Mozilla Philippines Community will be in Leyte from 02-04 Aug 2012 for a MozTour. Check this blog post of Chor for details.
  • I am spearheading the Mozilla Philippines HTML5 & Firefox Mobile OS (Boot to Gecko) Roadshow on 10 Aug 2012 – sorry, but it is more of a by invitation only event this time. Don’t you worry, we will bring the same type of event to a venue near you very soon.
  • There will be an Open Web Day at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran (Calamba Campus) on 17 Aug 2012.
  • Mozilla Philippines Community is supporting the WebGeek DevCup on 25 Aug 2012.
  • We’re on the planning stage for the staging of an Open Web Day somewhere in Region III on 25 Aug 2012 – please check our website for updates (http://www.mozillaph.org)
  • Pinoy Mozilla Representatives (ReMo) will be attending several celebrations of the Software Freedom Day come 15 Sep 2012Luzon, Visayas, & Mindanao that is.
  • Localization / Translation of Mozilla Firefox Aurora to Tagalog is almost done. We are now in the process of approving all suggested translations.
  • Localization / Translation efforts in Bikol and Chavacano had started already. If you want to participate, please visit http://narro.mozillaph.org

After the meeting, all were very excited to the lineup of events as well as plans for the continuous grow of the Mozilla Philippines Community.
