A strategic partnership has been sealed between Alorica Inc., a global leader in customer experience solutions, the Department of Tourism (DOT), and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to collaboratively address the needs of thousands of displaced job-seekers and workplace safety.

DOT x Alorica Job Fair 

With the goal of supporting those seeking a career change into the BPO sector, Alorica and the DOT, through the initiative of the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) wherein the former is a member, have come together to mount the DOT x Alorica Job Fair, a virtual event that seeks to attract workers from the tourism and food and beverage industries who may have encountered employment challenges amid the pandemic. Offering seasonal and permanent BPO employment opportunities, the next leg of this job fair will be on 24 August 2021.

“The Department of Tourism is thankful for the participation of BPO industries in this event, first conducted in September 2020. I am confident that the caliber and values of our tourism workers will be a great asset to your company. Deserving participants will surely gain renewed hope as they slowly rebuild their livelihood and likewise acquire potential career growth,” according to DOT Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat recognizing the country’s world-class tourism workforce and underscored the tourism department’s mandate of providing technical assistance to tourism workers affected by the pandemic.

DOLE Virtual Information Session

Following the online job fair with DOT, Alorica will host an online training session for Ilocos-based job seekers, focusing on safety in the workplace. Alongside the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte and the Department of Labor and Employment’s attached agency, the Public Employment Services Office (PESO), Alorica invites everyone to the session, which will be streaming live via Zoom and on PESO’s Facebook page on 26 August 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Pre-registration is done via workin.ilocosnorte.gov.ph until 20 August 2021.

Targeting residents of Ilocos Norte and nearby cities, the online event’s speaker will be Alorica’s Director of Strategic Sourcing, Recruitment and Marketing, Marvin Vinluan, who will discuss “Safety in the workplace and job opportunities at Alorica.” With today’s evolving work environment, it is important to know how companies are prioritizing employee safety and well-being. Alorica’s current COVID protocols are a good balance of compliance with government regulations and a strong focus on caring for employees and their health. The talk will be followed by a 15-minute question and answer session. “Ilocos continues to be an important location for us in Alorica,” says Mr. Vinluan, “and we are rapidly growing our dynamic team in San Nicolas. We invite our kababayans in Ilocos to explore opportunities with us.” 

Through this virtual information session, Alorica hopes to reach many potential candidates to explore opportunities with the company. Meanwhile, for its part, the DOLE aims to foster job creation amidst the uncertainties brought about by the pandemic.
