The highly formidable RP Blu Boys are eagerly preparing to showcase their skills on the field as they gear up for the Asian Men’s Softball Asia Cup 2023. The prestigious tournament, organized by the Softball Confederation of Asia, is scheduled from 25 to 28 June 2023 in Kochi, Japan.

Considered the premier championship event for national men’s softball teams in Asia, the Asian Men’s Softball Championship features fierce competition among six participating countries: Japan, Philippines, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Japan, known for its dominance in the sport, currently holds the record for the most gold medals with an impressive tally of nine. Following closely behind is the Philippines with three gold medals, while the remaining countries are still striving to capture their first championship title.

“We are excited to see how the RP Blu Boys will do at this year’s Men’s Softball Asia Cup. They have trained well for this moment- and we have nothing but all-out support for the team as they do their best in taking home that much-coveted gold,” according to Jean Henri Lhuillier, Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) President and RP Blu Boys backer.

The RP Blu Boys have been honing their skills and strategies and announced their line-up for the three-day tournament. The team comprises talented athletes including John Israel Antonio, Jerome Bacarisas, Leo Barredo, Denmark Bathan, Melvin De Castro, Lyonas De Leon, Juliuz Dela Cruz, Mark Janzen Gaspi, Francis Generoso, John Norwen Lucas, Efril Ian Mercado, Micheal Pagkaliwagan, Reagan Parco, Gerone Riparir, Justine John Rosales, and Kenneth Torres. With their formidable roster, the RP Blu Boys are poised to deliver an exceptional performance and leave a lasting impression on the tournament.

In addition to the Asian Men’s Softball Asia Cup, ASAPHIL has also announced the participation of three teams in three upcoming world championships. The teams will compete in the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup, the WBSC Co-Ed Slow Pitch Softball World Cup, and the WBSC World Cup Under Girls-15 Women’s Softball. These championships provide an excellent opportunity for ASAPHIL to showcase the country’s talent and determination on the global stage.
