Madiskarte Moms PH (MMPH) is thrilled to announce the return of Gawad Madiskarte, powered by PLDT Home, for the year 2024. This time, the awards shine a spotlight not only on hardworking and accomplished mothers in business but also on those leading the charge for sustainable practices in the entrepreneurial landscape.
Amidst the current environmental and economic challenges faced by the Philippines, Gawad Madiskarte is looking for mompreneurs who exemplify the possibility and profitability of sustainable business practices. By celebrating and supporting these visionary women, the awards aim to inspire other entrepreneurs and businesses to contribute to a brighter, more sustainable future for the country.
According to a recent report by earth.org, the Philippines will face significant environmental challenges in 2024, with plastic pollution and marine pollution at the forefront. The country’s heavy reliance on single-use plastics contributes to an annual waste generation of 2.7 million tons, a staggering issue exacerbated by an insufficient waste management system. The World Bank reports that approximately 20% of this plastic waste finds its way into Philippine waters, posing a threat to marine biodiversity.
The 2024 Gawad Madiskarte introduces major awards, including Diskarteng Eco-Friendly, recognizing mompreneurs leading the way in environmental responsibility and pioneering green solutions; Diskarteng Angat, for outstanding sales growth coupled with a commitment to sustainability; and Diskarteng May Puso, celebrating mompreneurs making positive social contributions to their communities.
Each major award will have two winners — one from the Start-Up category (operating for at least six months) and one from the Scale-Up category (operating for at least 13 months, supported by DTI and BIR permits). To be eligible, business owners must have an online shop on any e-commerce platform or social media account.
Special awards, Diskarteng Digital and Diskarteng Home Biz, will also be presented during the event. Interested mompreneurs can access the Gawad Madiskarte application form by joining the community and filling out the Google Form. Submissions open starting today 08 March 2024 — International Women’s Day.
