Alorica Inc. observed International Women’s Month in March, extending the celebration of International Women’s Day last 08 March 2023. This year, Alorica received the Stevie® Award for Achievement in Developing and Promoting Women, which reflects the company’s dedication to cultivating a diverse and inclusive work environment that empowers women to lead and achieve their full potential. Alorica promoted over 5,000 employees in the previous year, and more than half of them were women. The company’s executive management team in the Philippines is actively committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, as demonstrated by the number of accomplished women leaders. Mireille Magallona, Alorica’s Asia-Pacific (APAC) Regional President, is an excellent example of this commitment. Her extensive experience in the BPO sector and exceptional leadership skills in the Philippines are a testament to the organization’s dedication to embracing diverse perspectives. Having a woman leader overseeing the entire APAC region is also a source of inspiration for women who aspire to advance their careers.

“I am a woman, a mother, a leader and an Alorican. All of these things make me proud of who I am and motivates me to do my best every day. It’s my great honor and pleasure to be leading a team of phenomenal men and women who contribute tremendously to our business growth and to the communities where we work and live. As Alorica leaders, we align around a shared value system in which we work together with respect, determination and purpose,” Magallona shared.

Alorica’s global workforce of 100,000 comprises 60% women, with a comparable representation in the APAC region. The company’s female leaders from the Philippines run several corporate functions. Along with Magallona, who is part of the Alorica Executive Leadership Team, Mikee Ong, Associate General Counsel, and Jamea Garcia, Regional Vice President of Human Resources, hold global roles. Ma Kristine (Tintin) Bucayan, a longtime Alorican, is the Senior Director of Customer Experience and oversees operations in the Philippines, having climbed up the ranks during her 19-year tenure.

“At Alorica, we continuously strive to be the kind of company where individuals—regardless of their gender, age or background—feel welcomed, challenged and supported. It’s the kind of culture where employees can dream big, own their future and know there’s a seat at the table for them. Let’s continue to shatter that status quo together,” Magallona added.

Alorica fosters an inclusive culture and promotes its employees’ learning and development through its Women’s Initiative. The company implements proactive measures to support women’s professional advancement, such as mentorship opportunities and career growth guidance. Alorica’s global program includes a speakers’ series that features influential female leaders from within and outside the organization to offer career advice, share perspectives, and inspire employees to take charge of their career paths. The latest episode of this popular fireside chat included Divisional Vice President of Customer Experience Sarah Machan-De Silva from the Philippines and Sr. Vice President of Client Solutions Jadah Hawkins from the U.S. as they discussed the challenges, obstacles, and perceptions that women face in leadership positions and what it takes to become a woman in a position of power. To conclude the month-long celebration of International Women’s Day, Alorica organized a special event on March 31 featuring Amelia Hardy, Best Buy’s Chief Inclusion & Diversity Officer, who addressed hundreds of Alorica employees. These efforts demonstrate Alorica’s commitment to promoting gender equity and inclusion throughout the organization.
