Circa 1994: I became an official member of our parish’s Rondalla.

Circa 1998: I became the youngest organist (we’re still using a Yamaha Electone — those double-decker one’s) at the very same parish.

Circa 2003: A band drumset was added to the Rondalla to encourage and entice people in participating more to the Holy Mass (by singing louder, etc.)

Circa 2010: The aging (and problematic) Technics Electone was replaced by a Yamaha Clavinova (digital piano with USB support).

01 May 2014: The incoming Parish Priest decided to “experiment” by taking out the Digital Piano and Drums during the Sunday Holy Masses. For all Sunday’s of May 2014, parishioners attending the 09.30am mass will just have the Children’s Choir accompanied by the SIP Rondalla.

I.Just.Dont.Get.It.

Whoever suggested that to the incoming Parish Priest (if that is not his own decision) is indeed a genius (from trash).

  1. Sayang! Last time I encountered this was in Don Bosco Mandaluyong in high school. Didn’t know your parish was using these kinds of instruments. Makes attending and celebrating Mass livelier and more fulfilling.
