Global technology leader Xiaomi marked a historic moment with the official unveiling of its Smart Electric Vehicle (EV) and the introduction of five groundbreaking core technologies. The Xiaomi EV Technology Launch showcased E-Motor, Battery, Xiaomi Die-Casting, Xiaomi Pilot Autonomous Driving, and Smart Cabin, solidifying Xiaomi’s commitment to revolutionizing the automotive industry.

Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s founder, emphasized the company’s bottom-up approach to developing foundational core technologies, investing over 10 billion CNY and assembling a team of over 3,400 engineers for this ambitious project. The five core technologies introduced represent breakthroughs in E-Motor, Battery, Xiaomi Die-Casting, Xiaomi Pilot Autonomous Driving, and Smart Cabin.

Quoting a sentence from Chinese poetry, “With firm strides, we are crossing its summit.” Lei Jun, founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi Group, stated that Xiaomi’s entry into the automotive industry marks a significant leap from the smartphone industry and a crucial step toward closing the loop of the Human x Car x Home smart ecosystem. Lei Jun further expressed that the century-old automotive industry offers little room for maneuvering today: “Xiaomi has decided to invest tenfold, starting from the development of fundamental core technologies, committing to constructing an outstanding vehicle. Through 15 to 20 years of effort, Xiaomi aims to become one of the top five global automakers.”

E-Motor Breakthroughs

Xiaomi’s HyperEngine V8s sets a global record for E-motors with its 27,200 rpm, 425kW output, and 635N·m peak torque. It employs innovative cooling designs, including Bidirectional Full Oil Cooling Technology and an S-shaped oil circuit design. The HyperEngine V6/V6s E-motors, with a rotational speed of 21,000rpm, surpass existing mass-produced electric motors globally.

Cutting-Edge Battery Technology

Xiaomi’s CTB Integrated Battery Technology, featuring Inverted Cell Technology and a minimalistic wiring system, achieved a battery integration efficiency of 77.8%, the world’s highest for CTB batteries. The battery’s safety design includes a robust physical protection system and a dual-side water cooling solution, setting new standards in the industry.

Innovative Die-Casting

Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi Die-Casting T9100 cluster and Xiaomi Titans Metal, a high-strength, high-resilience, heat-treated die-casting material. The die-casting process reduces car weight by 17%, and production hours by 45%, and includes an efficient quality judgment system.

Pioneering Autonomous Driving Technologies

Xiaomi leads autonomous driving with Adaptive BEV Technology, Road-Mapping Foundational Model, and Super-Res Occupancy Network Technology. These technologies improve perception, navigation, and obstacle recognition, placing Xiaomi’s intelligent Autonomous Driving system among the industry’s elite.

Revolutionary Smart Cabin

Xiaomi EV Smart Cabin adopts a “human-centric” interaction architecture, featuring a 16.1-inch 3K central console, a 56-inch HUD head-up display, a 7.1-inch rotating dashboard, and seamless cross-device connectivity. The Snapdragon 8295 in-car chip powers an ultimate interactive experience, transforming the vehicle into a mobile smart space.

The Xiaomi SU7, the first product from Xiaomi EV, epitomizes the company’s commitment to high performance, eco-technology capabilities, and a comprehensive mobile smart space experience. With a zero-to-hundred acceleration in 2.78 seconds, a top speed of 265 km/h, and a Smart Multidimensional Sensing and Global Synchronized Control system, the Xiaomi SU7 sets new benchmarks in performance and driving experience.

Lei Jun announced that Xiaomi’s “Human x Car x Home” smart ecosystem is now complete with the addition of Xiaomi EV. The ecosystem, focused on seamless connectivity and collaboration among individuals, devices, and intelligent services, enables mutual empowerment among products, technologies, and industries. Xiaomi HyperOS serves as the center for intelligent reasoning, providing automated, proactive solutions.

Xiaomi’s ultimate goal is to create a dream car for the new era, one that is aesthetically pleasing, enjoyable to drive, comfortable, smart, and safe. The Xiaomi SU7, as the pinnacle of technology, experience, and aesthetics, represents the realization of this vision, marking a significant step forward in the evolution of smart electric vehicles.
