Sony has recently launched the Alpha 9 III camera in the Philippines, featuring the planet’s inaugural full-frame global shutter image sensor. This cutting-edge device has already become a game-changer, attracting both novice and professional photographers keen on capturing decisive moments. Renowned figures in the industry, such as Sony Alpha Professional Jiggie Alejandrino and independent documentary photographer Martin San Diego, are among those who have swiftly adopted the Alpha 9 III.

With the launch, Sony has ushered in a new era of camera performance by introducing the world’s first global shutter full-frame stacked 24.6-megapixel CMOS image sensor. Capable of shooting continuous bursts at an impressive 120 frames per second (fps) with AF/AE tracking and an unrivaled maximum shutter speed of 1/80000 second, coupled with the advanced BIONZ XR® image processing engine, the Alpha 9 III captures fast-paced subjects without any distortion, preserving moments in exquisite detail. The global shutter system, unique to the Alpha 9 III, exposes all pixels simultaneously, eradicating flicker in single images or flash bonding, distinguishing it from the conventional rolling shutter system.

Augmenting the global shutter system is the camera’s dedicated AI processing unit, featuring Real-time Recognition AF. This technology excels at recognizing a broad spectrum of subjects with exceptional precision, enabling photographers to easily capture scenes and moments beyond the capabilities of the human eye. The newly integrated Pre-Capture function empowers users to retrospectively record up to one second before pressing the shutter, offering a novel approach to photography.

Notably, the Alpha 9 III’s global shutter image sensor extends its prowess to video capture, ensuring distortion-free 4K movies at up to 120p and 60p with full pixel readout and 6K oversampling. The AI processing unit’s support for movies includes accurate subject form and movement recognition, significantly enhancing human eye recognition with Real-time Recognition AF and Real-time Tracking. The camera’s S-Cinetone™ image creation process further accentuates human skin and subjects, producing natural highlights.

In response to the demands of professional photographers, Sony has designed the Alpha 9 III with improved operability and reliability, featuring an ergonomic design and compatibility with the VG-C5 vertical grip (available separately) for extended shooting sessions. New features include a playback image filter for efficient image selection during high-speed continuous shooting and a function menu accessible during image playback, streamlining professional workflows from shooting to delivery.

For photographers like Jiggie and Martin, the Alpha 9 III has bridged the gap between capturing and image editing, redefining their creative processes. Positioned as the ideal companion for those seeking to elevate their photography game, the Alpha 9 III is now available in the Philippines at a suggested retail price of PHP349,599.
