In a history-making move towards the future of home connectivity, PLDT Home launches the first-ever 10,000 Mbps fiber-optic service in the Philippines.

Backed by the country’s fastest broadband internet service provider, the new service now puts the country next to first-world nations such as South Korea, Japan, Sweden, Norway, Italy, New Zealand, and the USA, in terms of having access to ultra-fast home internet speed. PLDT Home is confident its 10,000 Mbps service will set the bar for the future of internet speeds in the Philippines.

“We at PLDT continue to play an active role in shaping the future of our country and leading the way towards a connected nation. We are doing all these for our north star – our customers: business owners, professionals, tech mavericks with very large homes, multiple high-bandwidth users with multiple screens. And with all that life requires of them, they need the fastest home broadband powered by the fastest network. And we are more than ready to give them what they need — all 10,000 of it,” according to Alfredo Panlilio, PLDT President and Chief Executive Officer.

PLDT Home pilots its 10,000 Mbps service in Metro Manila this December and will then implement further expansions in other key cities outside Metro Manila like Cebu and Davao in 2022.

The Future of Smart Homes

The planned rollout is the culmination of PLDT Home’s year-long network expansion program in 2021, in a deliberate move to provide Filipino homes with only the strongest internet connections.

“Consistent with our commitment to provide superior technology to address the Filipinos’ growing digital connectivity needs, PLDT Home continues to innovate and make a difference in the lives of our customers. With our all-new, upgraded, and fastest internet speed, Filipino homes will now be able to experience and enjoy the future — that is the smart home,” said Butch G. Jimenez, Senior Vice President and Head of PLDT Home Business.

Leading market and consumer data provider Statista.com defines a “smart home” as a private household controlled, monitored, and regulated through networked devices. Statista predicted a household penetration rate in the Philippines of 7.5% for 2021 and 14.2% (or 3.4 million active smart homes) by 2025.

A 10,000 Mbps connection thus makes the perfect partner for the bandwidth-hungry smart home. To cater to the growing number of smart homes in the Philippines, PLDT Home’s new Fiber Plan comes with a WiFi 6 Mesh System that will guarantee ultra-fast WiFi speeds covering an area of over 550 square meters.

“Launching 10,000 Mbps shows our commitment to bring the country’s digital infrastructure to the future. PLDT Home’s fiber will not just power smart homes, but also new metaverse applications that are currently in development around the globe,” per PLDT Senior Advisor for Home Business Jeremiah De La Cruz.

The Philippines’ Most Powerful Fiber Internet

PLDT Home has also launched the most powerful Fiber plans this November. As a treat for consumers this holiday season, these new plans automatically give PLDT Home Fiber subscribers free upgrades of as much as three times their subscribed internet speeds.

All PLDT Home subscribers can now enjoy the fastest and most superior internet speeds to power their smart home devices and cover their homes with seamless whole-home wifi connectivity.

As the undisputed fastest fixed network in the country, PLDT Home delivers the most powerful broadband services for Filipinos. As of September 2021, PLDT has added 324,000 new fiber subscribers, wrapping up the third quarter with a market-leading count of 2.77 million fixed broadband customers.

PLDT offers the best high-speed plans to different parts of the country reinforced by the Group’s expansive 615,000 kilometers of a fiber-optic network. The company thus delivers fixed broadband connectivity to an estimated 12.7 million homes passed.

The telco giant continues to set the standard for broadband service in the country with its four-peat record at the prestigious Ookla Speedtest Awards for Q1-Q2 2021, recording an overall speed score of 46.25 Mbps. With its recent feat, PLDT remains and will remain at the top of its game.
