Preps for Grand Opening of First Experience Center

Aimed at revolutionizing the landscape of transportation in the Philippines, Gogoro Philippines has proudly concluded its two-month pilot test of the groundbreaking Smartscooter® and battery-swapping system. This initiative, executed in partnership with more than 60 dedicated employees from Globe, demonstrated the immense potential of Gogoro’s sustainable transport alternative.

During the pilot phase, an impressive environmental impact was achieved, with 3,316 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions saved, 2,603 batteries seamlessly swapped, and an astounding total distance of 42,399 kilometers covered.

“The Philippines is uniquely primed to embrace the exponential global electric vehicle growth, bolstered by the government’s robust EV plan. At Gogoro, we’re looking to redefine how Filipinos move, making cities smarter and cleaner. The results from our pilot program with Globe employees have been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re excited to extend this experience to the broader public,” according to Bernie Llamzon, President of Gogoro Philippines.

Anticipation is building as Gogoro Philippines gears up for its grand launch on 07 November 2023. Prior to this highly anticipated event, an exclusive Sneak Peek was held last 25 October 2023 at the pioneering Gogoro Experience Center (GEC) located at Greenbelt 4 in Makati City. This event had a select group of attendees experience an immersive experience, providing a deep dive into the cutting-edge technology that underpins the Gogoro ecosystem.

Gogoro’s entry into the Philippines was made possible through a strategic joint venture between 917Ventures Inc., an affiliate of Globe, the Ayala Corporation, and Gogoro. This collaborative effort is rooted in a shared vision to transform the landscape of Philippine transportation with innovative and sustainable solutions.

“Urban transportation is going through a fundamental transformation and Gogoro is focused on making cities like Manilla smarter, cleaner, and safer by providing broad access to sustainable transportation. Our “Swap & Go” battery swapping has been a big hit in Taiwan and has been recognized globally for its innovation, ease of use and accessibility. Since 2015, we’ve reduced carbon emissions by over 736 million kgs globally, which is what 73.6 million trees would do in a year. We’re excited to introduce these vehicles and battery swapping to the Philippines and enable a new smart and sustainable approach to urban transportation,” said Jason Gordon, Gogoro VP of Communications.

The hallmark of Gogoro’s approach is its swappable battery infrastructure, which is set to empower Filipino riders with a sustainable and cost-effective transport alternative. This technology also positions the Philippines to significantly reduce carbon emissions, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future.

“Our smart battery system, crafted with precision for energy swapping, has seen an unprecedented 440 million swaps globally. It champions both user safety and unbridled convenience. Furthermore, our GoStation and Smartscooters® are crafted with an ethos of speed, safety, intelligence, and personalization. The Philippines’ market is on an upward trend, and we stand ready to elevate the experience,” per Ming-I Peng, Gogoro Chief Product Officer.
