The Philippines’ number 1 mobile wallet app, GCash, and the world’s best low-cost airline and ASEAN’s growing super app, AirAsia have announced a timely partnership to deliver safety and convenience to travelers when paying for their flight, hotel bookings, and travel retail items.

This partnership will let customers pay for their AirAsia plane fare and accommodation in partner hotels simply by using the GCash apps on their mobile phones. The airline’s customers may also opt for contactless payment using the GCash app at AirAsia counters, plus a host of exciting offers and discounts to mark the launch of this partnership.

Using the GCash app turns your mobile phone into a virtual wallet, where you may pay for items and send money at the speed of a text message. Customers can now also use the GCash app at AirAsia check-in counters nationwide when paying for their additional luggage, meals, and other add-ons when checking in. They can simply open the GCash app, scan the QR code, enter the amount, and pay.

“At GCash, we have pioneered a number of digital payment innovations to help Filipinos during the pandemic, and this partnership with AirAsia is a continuation of its thrust to provide users with safe and convenient payment solutions. AirAsia supports this thrust as it continues to provide its customers with convenience and safety when flying with them. With this partnership, GCash users can now enjoy exclusive exciting promo offers from AirAsia,” according to Martha Sazon, GCash President and Chief Executive Officer.

AirAsia has made flying accessible to a greater number of Filipinos through its low-cost plane fare offers, and the partnership will bring safe and affordable travel even more within reach of Pinoys through the exciting promo offers and discounts that will be available exclusively to GCash’s over 40 million users.

“Providing convenience through digital and contactless solutions while observing the highest standards of safety has always been Airasia’s commitment to our guests. Our partnership with Gcash, the country’s leading e-wallet empowers our guests with flexible cashless options as we all gear up to fly again to our favorite leisure destinations.  This is also an added convenience that makes the AirAsia super app even more appealing to the consumer as the fastest growing super app in ASEAN.  We look forward to strengthening this partnership with GCash as AirAsia continues to embark on its journey to becoming more than just an airline,” said Ricky Isla, AirAsia Philippines Chief Executive Officer.

On the AirAsia website, they can select their flights and add-ons and proceed to the payment page where they can pay via GCash on the “Wallet” tab.
