Cebuana Lhuillier, one of the largest and leading micro-financial services providers in the Philippines, has stepped up to organize relief and donation efforts in response to the urgent needs of communities affected by the recent rampage of Typhoon Odette in areas of Visayas and Mindanao.

Under its “Tulong sa Pagbangon” program, the company has initiated “Pera Padalove,” a fund-raising drive for the victims of Typhoon Odette through its money remittance service. This new initiative is aside from its ongoing donation drive program.

“We are always known for our spirit of Bayanihan and during this challenging time, our kababayans from Visayas and Mindanao need us more than ever. Following the typhoon, we immediately mobilized Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation and its “Tulong sa Pagbangon” donation drive program to help our Ka-Cebuanas that were gravely hit by the typhoon. To further add to the funds raised for this effort, we decided that all transaction fees for all remittances going to areas affected by the typhoon will be donated to all our kababayans in need,” according to Jean Henri Lhuillier, President and CEO of Cebuana Lhuillier.

For every remittance transaction up to PHP5,000, all service charges incurred will be donated to Typhoon Odette victims. This will be applicable in close to 100 typhoon-stricken areas like Palawan, Bohol, Cebu, Cebu City, Tacloban City, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Eastern Samar, Negros Oriental and Occidental, Iloilo, Agusan province, and Surigao province, among others. The complete list of covered areas is here. This fundraising program runs from 23-28 December 2021.

Amidst the recent calamity and with many of its branches and employees also affected by Odette, selected Cebuana Lhuillier branches in Visayas and Mindanao continued to have their doors remain open, opting to serve the affected clients.

“We understand the need right now for continued and reliable access to financial services for all our Ka-Cebuanas. That is why, our branches in the region opted to remain open, especially in the most badly hit areas. This is our company’s legacy of service,” Lhuillier added.
