Azul, a company exclusively devoted to Java, is taking significant steps to assist businesses in the Philippines in curbing their cloud computing costs. This initiative leverages the world’s fastest and most efficient Java Virtual Machine (JVM) software, Azul Platform Prime. The introduction of Azul Platform Prime in the Philippines promises to empower businesses in Southeast Asia’s largest economy, enabling them to expand their utilization of cloud services without being burdened by issues like excessive costs and performance bottlenecks.

Azul Platform Prime, renowned as the most high-performing Java runtime, achieves remarkable results by enhancing Java performance. It achieves this by enabling more transactions from the same hardware, even during periods of increased loads. The platform offers optimization features that ensure consistent response times and reduced latency. These combined advantages empower Azul’s customers to confidently raise their cloud utilization thresholds, subsequently reducing the number of cloud compute instances they require. As a result, the typical outcome for Azul customers has been a significant 50% reduction in their cloud expenditure when utilizing Azul Platform Prime.

“Our unwavering commitment at Azul is to empower businesses to harness the full potential of their cloud investments, and Java sits at the heart of this mission. By introducing Azul Platform Prime to the Philippines, we are not just providing a solution – we are providing a pathway for businesses to realize unparalleled efficiency and cost savings in their cloud journey,” according to Scott Sellers, co-founder and CEO at Azul during a recent media roundtable.

According to research conducted by Statista, the Philippines’ public cloud market is projected to experience substantial growth, with revenues expected to surpass US$1 billion in 2023 and reach nearly US$2.28 billion by 2028. Cloud computing is hailed for its ability to provide on-demand capacity, elasticity, automation, and availability, which enable businesses, regardless of their size, to operate in a modern, agile manner, catering to the ever-evolving demands of today’s business landscape. However, one persistent challenge is the specter of cost overruns that loom over many businesses. In a study from 2021, Gartner found that organizations lacking effective cloud cost optimization strategies ended up overspending on cloud services by as much as 70%, failing to extract the expected value from these investments.

With the recent alterations in Java licensing and pricing introduced by Oracle in January, many businesses are now confronting potential cost increases. Azul, armed with the most extensive Java engineering team outside of Oracle, empowers its clients with substantial savings, typically around 70% when compared to Oracle Java SE. What’s more, Azul provides a wide-ranging platform and version support, along with quarterly security-only updates, bolstered by their profound Java expertise.

In response to the mounting risks associated with attacks on enterprise software supply chains, Azul has introduced the Azul Vulnerability Detection (AVD). These risks are further exacerbated by Java vulnerabilities, including the likes of Log4j, which persist as threats. AVD takes on the critical task of identifying known vulnerabilities in Java applications operating in production, all without introducing any performance penalties.

Azul’s latest offering, the Azul Code Inventory, is a groundbreaking feature integrated into AVD. It serves developers and DevOps teams by providing a meticulous inventory of the source code actively utilized by Java applications in production. This feature streamlines the process of pinpointing and eliminating redundant and unused code. By enhancing developer productivity and removing the burden of maintaining and testing extraneous code, Code Inventory effectively translates into cost savings.

Azul’s commitment to addressing these challenges positions them as a valuable partner in the journey of businesses operating in the dynamic landscape of cloud computing.
