After two (02) years of virtual events due to the pandemic, the Asia Pacific Regional Internet Conference on Operational Technologies (APRICOT) resumes its in-person meetings in Manila in February 2023. Hosted by the Philippine Network Operators Group (PhNOG) and supported by the DOST-Advanced Science and Technology Institute, this 9-day summit is a chance for the world’s top Internet engineers, operators, researchers, service providers, and policymakers from over fifty (50) countries to come together and share their expertise.

APRICOT 2023, which will be held at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, features seminars, workshops, tutorials, conference sessions, a peering forum, BOF (birds of a feather) sessions, and other opportunities for attendees to expand their knowledge of Internet operations within the Asia Pacific region. It also provides a platform for participants and sponsors to actively engage in discussions on current operational challenges and networking technologies, as well as shape the technology and operational trends that will drive the advancement of the global Internet.

“The Philippines eagerly awaits the opportunity to collaborate and evolve knowledge with the global community as we host APRICOT 2023, a celebration of technology, innovation, and connection after a year of pandemic-induced separation. Manila shines as a beacon of progress, inviting all to embrace this chance for growth and advancement,” according to Vincent ‘Achie’ Atienza, Chairman of the Philippine Network Operators Group (PhNOG) and local organizer of APRICOT 2023. Atienza is also the first and only Filipino to be part of the APNIC Executive Council (APNIC EC).

Internet pioneer and hall of fame awardee Paul Vixie, and the Philippines’ very own Dr. William ‘Bill’ Torres, one of the founding fathers of the Internet in the country, are scheduled as keynote speakers at the conference.

“APRICOT 2023 in Manila presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to receive world-class operational technical training, with a rich variety of in-depth technical presentations and conference sessions, making it an unmissable event for anyone in the field,” said Internet Hall of Fame awardee Philip Smith, who is the current Chairman of APRICOT.

APRICOT was last held in the Philippines in 2009. Registration to attend this year’s APRICOT is still open via https://2023.apricot.net.
