Canon Philippines is raising the bar in digital filmmaking with the launch of its groundbreaking Cinema EOS camera lineup. Held at the Yellow Studio, Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City, the exclusive event highlighted the brand’s latest professional-grade offerings — the EOS R5 C, EOS C80, and EOS C400 — each designed to meet the varied needs of modern filmmakers, from independent creatives to high-end production houses.

Canon Philippines President Anuj Aggarwal highlighted the company’s dedication to supporting Filipino filmmakers with versatile and powerful imaging solutions.

“Today’s filmmakers need tools that push beyond conventional limitations, adapting to their creative vision rather than constraining it. Our Cinema EOS lineup is a significant upgrade from our previous cameras in both performance and versatility. We’ve engineered these cameras to deliver exceptional image quality and versatility, setting a standard for what filmmakers can expect from their equipment,” according to Jian Liu, Canon Philippines Director for Consumer Information and Imaging.

The EOS R5 C stands out as a powerful hybrid camera, merging the best of CINEMA EOS and EOS R series technologies. It features a 45-megapixel sensor capable of capturing high-resolution stills alongside 8K/60p RAW video recording, all within a compact and portable body.

Event attendees had the opportunity to test the cameras from Canon’s Cinema EOS line.

The EOS C80, tailored for mobile creators, is a lightweight full-frame camera with an RF mount, weighing only 1,300 grams. It’s optimized for gimbal, drone, and run-and-gun filmmaking — ideal for documentary work and dynamic shooting environments.

Catering to larger-scale productions, the EOS C400 boasts a 6K full-frame back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor and is equipped with expanded SDI and Ethernet terminals, making it a robust choice for live production workflows.

Attendees at the launch, including filmmakers, producers, and industry professionals, were invited to experience hands-on demonstrations of each model. Notable creators such as Jayson and Joanne Arquiza explored the R5 C’s dual capability for photography and video, while Paolo Ruiz, Ian Celis, and Wesley Villarica tested the C80’s agility in mobile scenarios. Acclaimed filmmaker Zig Dulay and cinematographer Neil Daza led a panel to explore the advanced features of the C400.

The event not only highlighted Canon’s technical innovations but also emphasized its commitment to accessibility in professional filmmaking. By offering a versatile ecosystem of tools, the Cinema EOS lineup empowers creators at every level to bring their stories to life with cinematic quality and precision.
