Web Pasaload from Smart!

I hold office inside the airport complex, as in my physical office is just less than 200 meters from the edge of NAIA’s main runway. You see, being inside the airport complex, there are times wherein GSM signal(s) is(are) a problem. There are days where you’ll just have a bar of signal strength, and there are those days wherein you’ll have full bars of signal. It is imperative for me to have at least two (02) mobile phones using different telcos — for redundant communication purposes.

Sometime before the holidays of last year, as we were preparing for our party (and my band will be playing), I left an important peripheral for my keyboards setup. My mobile phone with G as its provider barely can have a decent signal that day, so my main mobi was the one having the Smart SIM. But as they say, if it is your day, it is indeed your day: my Smart mobi has just PHP1.00 load (though the signal strength is very good). Another problem of being inside the airport complex is that the nearest convenience store where you may purchase load for your mobile phone is more than 02 kilometers away!

Times like this, I really appreciate Smart’s Facebook App named as Web Pasaload! With Web Pasaload, reloading your Smart mobile phone is as easy as following these steps:

  1. Go to http://apps.facebook.com/pasaload and add your mobile number;
  2. Add your Pasaload Contacts;
  3. Drag numbers into the Send & Receive boxes
  4. Choose the load denomination or Call & Text package to send
  5. Pasaload instantaneously!

Something Big & Free from Smart!

I came across this Facebook ad from Smart Communications:

Can’t help but wonder why Smart is having a new promo that is open for 18 and up only. And what will be this something BIG and FREE?

Will Smart be launching an adult-themed service or wapsite? (::grin::) Is Smart having a tie-up with any leading beer company or cigarette manufacturer?

Surfing to the Smart Communications, Inc. Facebook page and I saw this 18 & Up ;) tab, which is also saying something BIG and FREE is coming by end of this month. What could it be? Be the first to know by simply “liking” the Smart Communications, Inc. FB page.

Please do visit my site regularly for updates on this something BIG and FREE from Smart.

The Day My Smart Mobile Phone Was Resurrected

A day after I blogged about my Smart mobile phone (a Sony Ericsson W760i Walkman unit) went semi-dead: can’t make / receive any phone call, nor do GPRS/3G/MMS browsing, a very interesting comment was left on my Facebook wall from a long time friend.

Tonio (a friend since high school and works for Smart Communications) advised me to key-in the following keywords on my mobile unit: ROAM OFF then send it to 333. Wait for a couple of hours (around 2 hours for me) and I was back to mobile web surfing via GPRS/3G and was able to send MMS already!

This was confirmed to me by an email from Smart (in response to my email to them) stating that there are times wherein the International Roaming service is accidentally turned on(?). Hmmm.

Hope this helps those who had experienced the same thing and same error voice prompt.
