The 17th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta is scheduled from the 9th to 12th February 2012 at the Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga, Philippines. For the past three (03) years in-a-row, my family and I became part of this annual event. Let me just share with you my very own version of a Newbies Guide to the Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta to ensure that you will be able to maximize enjoyment visiting the event.

Going to the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

The Hot Air Balloon Fiesta is held at the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga (around 85 kms from Manila). The public activity and viewing area is actually around the two (02) Philippine Air Force maintenance hangars (starred in the aerial view below), which are located at the far end of DMIA’s left side runway.

TRIVIA: Did you know that when Clark Freeport Zone was still a United States Air Force Base, it was designated as one of the alternate landing runways for NASA’s Space Shuttle Program? That is how long its runways are!

Ghost on Christmas Eve?!

I was tasked to play the Clavinova during the 10PM Christmas Eve Vigil Mass at our parish last Saturday, 24 DEC 2011. While waiting for the 8PM mass to finish, I took out my camera and made several façade shots of the church, the bell tower, and the Parish Center. What caught my attention in clicking shots of the Parish Center is the fact that the priests left the convent’s chandelier lit (on) and flood lights directed towards the church reflect on the five-storey building. Here’s the first shot I took of the convent (top most floor) of the Parish Center (zoom not applied):

Then here’s the other shot with zoom applied (I made an err of not setting the ISO to 3600):

To my surprise just last night (the 26th) while viewing all of the photos I took during the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day was the faint silhouette of a person that appeared beside the window of the convent. I swear, there was nobody there when I took the shots (and to know that all of the priests are downstairs busy preparing for the Vigil Mass).

Is there really a ghost at our Parish Center, particularly at the convent?

Twitter has a New Look!

Noticed that the web interface of Twitter is now like what their Android app looks like. Kewl! At first, I thought I was accessing a mobile website – the tweet box has been transferred from the center of the page to the left side pane. There is now also some sore of a “reading pane” at the right side of the screen. Noticed the Connect and Discover tabs?

Beta-Testing the Smart-LTE 4G Technology

Just came back from the Smart Jump Experience Center at SM Megamall to claim my package:

What’s inside the package? The LTE device (Huawei E392), a Quick User Guide, and a Smart Bro SIM Pack:

I am one of the chosen few to beta test Smart Evolution …

SMART-LTE, or Long Term Evolution, represents 4G technology, the latest in broadband tech. This groundbreaking innovation can handle blistering download speeds up to 42 Mbps. Its low latency rate also makes it ideal for streaming HD video, online games, video conferencing, and other high bandwidth apps.

Thank you very much to Smart Communications for this privilege! Please do check my blog from time to time as I post the results of my LTE test around the difference places in Metro Manila.
