30 August 2011 is a Non-Working Holiday (Long Weekend Aug 2011)

It has just been declared by the President of the Republic that Tuesday, 30 August 2011 is a regular non-working holiday all throughout the country in celebration of Eid’l Fitr (Feast of Ramadhan). A copy of Proclamation No. 234 can be obtained here.

Prior to this announcement, Monday 29 August 2011 was also declared a non-working holiday to commemorate Araw ng Kagitingan (National Day of Valor).

Thus, we have a long weekend during this last week of August 2011.

The government has somewhat learned its lesson. So as early as now, the President of the Republic of the Philippines through the Executive Secretary has released the list of Regular Holidays, Special (Non-working) Days, and Special Holiday (For All Schools) for the Year 2011 via Proclamation No. 84:

~ Observance of Eid’l Fitr and Eidul Adha will be determined based on the Islamic calendar (Hijra) or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible or convenient — the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) shall inform the Office of the President on which day the holiday(s) shall fall.

Based on Proclamation No. 48 dated 06 Oct 2010, the President has declared Monday, 25 Oct 2010 to be a Special Non-working Holiday all throughout the Philippines for its citizens be given the fullest opportunity to exercise their right to vote in the Barangay & Sangguniang Barangay Elections.

Just signed now by P-Noy Proclamation No. 26 declaring 10 September 2010, Friday a non-working holiday all throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Fitr (feast of Ramadan).

07 & 21 Sep 2009 are Non-working Holidays

It was just declared by The Palace today, 04 Sep 2009 (the 2nd birthday of my son, Robyn Andi Xeon) that Mon 07 Sep 2009 and Mon 21 Sep 2009 will be a Non-working Holidays all throughout the Philippines.

07 Sep 2009 was declared as a National Day of Mourning in honor of the Iglesia ni Cristo’s executive leader Eraño Manalo, while 21 Sep 2009 will be for Eid Ul Fitr (last day of Ramadan).

Can’t they just declare my birthday as a holiday as well?

In honor of the late President Corazon “Cory” Aquino, it was declared that this Wednesday, 05 August 2009 will be a Special Non-working Holiday all throughout the country. It will also be on this day when the remains of the late President will be laid into rest at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City (where the body of his husband, the late Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. lies).

27 Jul 2009 is a Non-Working Holiday! (NOT)

UPDATE: So, someone knocked the head of someone in the Palace. They just released a clarification that 27 July 2009 is a WORKING HOLIDAY. In what part of this planet had you heard of a “working” holiday. Read all BS stuff here.

You read it right! On the last Monday of this month, the 27th, aside from the President (your’s not mine) will give her last SONA (hopefully), it will also coincide with the founding anniversary of the Iglesia ni Cristo. Not much fun fare there was, during our celebration of the country’s independence this year, it was signed into law as RA 9645 declaring the 27th of every July thereafter a non-working holiday.

As of this posting, I cannot locate a copy of the Republic Act. But was lucky to find a copy of the House Bill, which was the basis for this RA.

By virtue of Proclamation 1728, it has been declared that 23 February 2009, Monday is a Special Holiday for both Private and Public School at all levels.

If you belong to the working spectrum of the society, guess you’ll better be in your job post that day. Stupid, isn’t it?

The President of the Philippines (I’m still wary of her legitimacy) declared the following dates as the official holidays of the republic for 2009, based on Proclamation 1699 dated 24 December 2008:

Proclamation Number 1695 had just been released by the Malacañang today, declaring 02 January 2009 as an additional holiday. With this development, the next working day after close of business hours today will be on 05 January 2009.
