The Palace has announced that effective Monday, 23 February 2009, the jeepney fares in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Southern Tagalog regions will rollback by PHP0.50 (setting the minimum fare to PHP7.00). The decrease in the jeepney fares is primarily due to the favorable prices of diesel products.

Students and Senior Citizens will enjoy a 20% discount, even lowering their minimum fares to just PHP5.60. I just can’t comprehend why is that the discounted Student Fare is valid only from Monday to Friday. How about those students who have classes on Saturdays and Sundays? Just asking.

If you shall encounter jeepney drivers that will refuse to follow the new minimum fare, you may report them directly to LTFRB via 426-2515 | 925-7191 | 0921-4487777 or visit http://www.ltfrb.gov.ph to send your complains online.
