Maker Festival Manila 2014

The Mozilla Philippines Community, the official Philippine community of Mozilla, in their aim to extend the Mozilla advocacy of promoting openness, innovation and opportunity on the Web, is organizing their biggest event this year titled Maker Festival Manila 2014 on Sept. 13-14, 2014 at the Glorietta 5 Atrium. This Festival aims to be the biggest gathering of makers— inventors, thinkers, enthusiasts and users to collaborate on how we can know more, do more and do better, with the help of the Web.

Designed after the open and collaborative format of the Mozilla Festival in London (http://mozillafestival.org), the Maker Festival Manila 2014 is the Philippine finale of the Mozilla Maker Party season for 2014, where Mozillians teach the Web and help make a generation of Webmakers (http://webmaker.org). The Festival aims to attract people from all fields and backgrounds and of all ages, because we believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to learn and create something for the Web or with the help of it.

Maker Festival Manila will feature people who have the most promising projects/project ideas which includes students, freelancers, inventors, developers and other technology enthusiasts to showcase their work and find other people they can work with. Themes include robotics, web literacy, web development, mobile app development, software development and digital media learning, among others. Project exhibitors and festival participants will not be charged with any amount to join this event.

Mozilla, a non-profit organization, is best known for the Firefox browser but they advance their mission through other software projects and engagement efforts to make the Web and its users know more, do more and do better. Locally, the Mozilla Philippines Community is composed of volunteers who organizes events and projects in line with Mozilla’s mission.

Interested exhibitors to the Festival may apply at the event’s official website, http://makerfestival.com. Festival participants may also register through the said website.

This event is in partnership with the Ayala Foundation, Inc. and Ayala Land, Inc.
