I consider myself an early adopter of technology. When Geeksphone released their Keon devices powered by Mozilla’s Firefox OS, I was among the first Pinoys to have the unit through the Mozilla Reps Program.

Then Geeksphone released a better Firefox OS device aptly called Peak, but I missed the chance to get that device. Then came middle of 2013 when Geeksphone announced that Peak+ (a better model than Peak) will be released soon and they opened slots for Pre-Order. I pre-ordered my unit. Just before July 2013 ended, Geeksphone announced that they are encountering problems with the manufacturer of the Peak+ model; later on the unit was discontinued.

Those who pre-ordered the Peak+ model (including me) were given three choices: (1) Full Refund; (2) Get a Peak (lower specs) model with some freebies; or (3) Wait for the next model to be released — with a promise that you shall be the first one to have it. I chose option 3.

Just before 2013 ended, Geeksphone gave hints in their website that the upcoming model will sport an Intel processor among other things. Then came the announcement of the Revolution mobile device.

I just came back from a workweek at Mozilla Paris and a package sent via UPS was waiting for me at home — the Geeksphone Revolution has arrived in Philippine shores and I am the very first one to have it here!

The Geeksphone Revolution comes with Android installed by default. After a software upgrade (while still on Android), the option to install Firefox OS will appear. Now, here are some screenshots of the Geeksphone Revolution running on Firefox OS 1.3:

  1. Hello there Sir Bob;

    Nice phone you have there. Must be really proud of owning one. Question though, how much was the shipping fee and did you have problems with customs?

    Thanks

    1. Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog!

      Shipping cost was included when I ordered the Peak+ months ago. I was, however, charged PHP2,100 by the PHL Bureau of Customs upon delivery by UPS.
