Our company (the entire group of companies) decided to support the National Geographic (NATGEO) Earth Day Run 2011. Now on its second year, the NATGEO Earth Day Run 2011 will be memorable to me as this is the very first time I will run 3K this year and to some 10,000++ who registered in the event. Never had I ran with that number of  participants.

Excited, I woke up at around 0330H and was at the Bonifacio Global City by 0430H. There were still ample parking slots at The Fort Strip (I parked in front of Gourdo’s). The delegation from my company has a total of 150 comprise of employees from the corporate head office and 03 subsidiaries.

And just today, the organizers already posted in the event’s website the official ranking of the participants: I am ranked 977 (official time is 30 minutes & 08 seconds) out of the 2,015 runners in the 3K category. Not bad, as my own timekeeping ticked at 29 minutes & 26 seconds, attributable to the fact that since there were so many runners, it will take someone in the middle of that pack some 30-60 seconds to reach the starting point. Lessons learned; I will be placing myself in the front of the pack next time. Based on my personal record, never had I crossed the 30-minute mark when running the 3,000 meters race.

See you in NATGEO Earth Day Run 2012!
