I mean it. Put me in jail, if you want.

Coming from my class, which ended past 9PM last night, I usually have my dinner in a fast food or a decent resto. But instead, last night, I landed more than a kilometer away from home just to dine in a turo-turo along Evangelista, Bangkal, Makati City.

From school, I went to KFC — but it was full and the queue ends at the door already. Tapa King is already closing. My next stop, Chowking near DFA, but it has been closed for an hour already. I walked down the stretch of Libertad to scout for a fast food that is still opened, but to no avail — Jollibee, McDo, and Greenwhich in all of their branches in Pasay were all closed already — that’s around 2130H.

No choice, I drove the stretch of Evangelista and saw Spare Strike still open, but it was full. Waited for around 20 minutes before the waitress (helper) took my order, and waited 5 more minutes before my “longsilog” was served. It’s past 10PM already! Chow time with some drunk men — since the place is famous for their “bulalo”.

You know, Mrs. Arroyo, I’m not against the curfew, but please, next time, make sure that you disseminate the guidelines way ahead before the curfew hours. It seems that everyone was panicking last night, trying to beat the 12 midnight curfew.

The curfew really sucks, big time!

Got a call from my dad, advising me not to go to the Makati CBD today as Sen. Trillanes had walked-out of a Makati Courtroom and is now in Ayala asking people to withdraw support to PGMA.

This is to document my latest PayPal Transaction, actually, the first since PayPal allowed Philippine users to receive payments (I was using a US address since 2006, but changed it to my local one last September 2007).

Type of PayPal Account: Business
Debit Card: UnionBankPH EON Cyber Account

I received a payment from a client last 19 November 2007 (yes, that’s from you Kat!). Withdrew the funds from PayPal to my UnionBankPH EON Visa Electron card with a transaction fee of US$5, on the morning of the same date. PayPal said that it will take 5-7 business days for the funds to be credited to my Visa card. Last night, I checked my EON Online Banking account, and indeed the amount from PayPal is already credited.

Total Waiting Time: 5 working days.

So, for the skeptics, PayPal really works with UnionBankPH EON Visa Electron Cyber Account.

Had you ever experienced exporting and importing a MySQL database? There should be no problem doing these simple tasks, thanks to PHPMyAdmin. But, if your database is big, say the one being used by a forums website with around 50 active users, it may be hard to import the MySQL database since it will take some time and you might encounter “timeouts” along the way (specially if your internet connection is not that fast enough to beat the timeout settings of the MySQL server).

The best way to import a MySQL database, if it is big (more than 10MB, is thru the command lines — SSH access is required. Simply execute the following command:

mysql --username=myusername --password=mypassword newmysqldb < oldmysqldb.sql

Where,  myusername is the MySQL Database User; mypassword is the MySQL Database User Password; newmysqldb is the name of the empty MySQL database; and the oldmysqldb.sql is the SQL file containing the exported database.

Now, sad to say, due to security concerns, most webhosting service providers doesn’t give SSH access to their clients. You may want to ask your webhosting service provider to do this on your behalf.

If your current webhosting service provider tells you that they cannot do it (either they do not know how to do it — the command is already above!; or they do not have SSH access), better think of transferring to another webhost (TurfSitePH.net is always here, hehehe), as they may just be a reseller of another company.

Using two (02) different internet connection speed testing websites: TestMy.net and SpeedTest.net, both results will prove that I have a better SmartBro connection this early Saturday morning. Time to go to sleep. Will check again nine (09) hours later.

Not to lambast people who belong to the Call Center Industry, but I just stumbled upon one post in Multiply looking for Call Center Professionals. By being a Call Center Agent, are you considered to be a Professional already?

The dictionary defines a profession as:
“Profession (noun) - an occupation requiring special education (especially in the liberal arts or sciences)”

What special education is required to become a Call Center Professional, when some contact centers even hire High School graduates.

As early as Monday this week, several bloggers had already been posting about GMail 2.0 — though it is not the official name for it, but rather just an upgrade on the UI and some basic functions of GMail — I love the GMail Contacts now! I was hoping that my GMail account will be upgraded latest by Tuesday, but Wednesday and Thursday came, and still, I am using the “Older Version” of GMail.

Then, finally, when I logged-in to my GMail this morning, I noticed that the red “loading” status is no longer there (replaced by a yellow one) and I can already see the link for the “Older Version”, meaning, my GMail had already been upgraded!

Four (04) years ago, I simply wanted to have an online storage space and post my resume online, thus I purchased the domain bobreyes.com for my TurfSite Manila website. Months later, some of my friends asked if they can park their websites in my domain. This eventually led to the establishment of TurfSite Computing, Inc. (http://www.turfsiteph.net)

Now, the static website bobreyes.com has evolved to a CMS-driven Blog Website (thanks to WP!) — from the time that I was the one paying for my own webhosting fees, til today when people pays their webhosting dues to me and I earn from blogging.

Happy anniversary TurfSite Manila!
