I logged in to my Google AdSense account today to check how much had I already earned for this month, and was surprised to see a link that asks me to apply for Western Union Quick Cash payment. No more waiting time of 3-6 weeks for my cheque to arrive, I can now get my Google payout in US Dollar the day after it is posted or released.

I was able to read and archive around 600++ email messages yesterday — the consequence of not being able to check my mail for more than five days, since I was sick. Just read an email now from Microsoft Philippines dated 05 SEP 2007 informing me that my application to become part of the Microsoft IT Insiders group has been approved!

Looking forward to our first meeting next week.

Friends Forever

Author: Bob

I was somewhere within the vicinity of Guadalupe, Makati City yesterday when I noticed the signage of RMN and iFM. First thing that came into my mind: DJ Rob. My best friend since our high school days, no one in our batch or anyone who had known him for a long time ever thought of him becoming a radio disc jockey.

I sent him an SMS and told him that I will be dropping by their station that afternoon (the radio station is owned by the family of one from our batch). The last time we saw each other was around late last year when he was doing a hosting stint at the Glorietta. He looks the same, the same good old Bujeng (he will kill me if he knows that I posted here that I called him by his nick).

He gave me a tour of their station, and boasted their soon to be live High Definition Radio system, which is still currently in test broadcast. Everything in the DJ’s booth is controlled by a PC (there are two, actually). Before we parted ways, I did advised him that he’s first on my list to become the godfather of Robyn.

His time slot at iFM 93.9 Manila is from 0800H to 1100H daily.

My wife was scheduled to be checked-up by her OB yesterday morning. She went solo to her doctor, as I was already at the office as early as 0700H. Just minutes before 1200H, she called and told me that her OB wanted her to be admitted already at the Makati Medical Center since her water level is already at a critical level.

I rushed to the MMC and proceeded to the Delivery Room immediately. Her OB told me that she has to deliver the baby that time, as my wife is already having a contraction every nine (09) minutes and since her water level is very low, the baby’s heartbeat is falling fast. We were left with no choice but to have our first baby delivered via Caesaerian Section.

I was NOT allowed by the MMC medical staff to be inside the Operating Room (but her doctor agreed to let me in earlier) since my wife was placed in an OR where relatives are not allowed :( So I decided to wait outside of the Delivery Room, together with my wife’s mom (and my parents sent me an SMS that they are already on their way to MMC — excited Lolo and Lola!), but the nurse who will assist in the operation was kind enough to ask the camera from me so that she may take pictures inside of the OR.

Just minutes after 4pm, the nurse at the Delivery Room was waving to me, asking me to go inside. On my way to the Nurse Station (around 15 feet from the lobby of the DR), I am already hearing the cry of my baby, which is being carried out of the OR by a nurse. I immediately called him, “Robyn!” and the nurse asked if I want to carry him, but I said, “Later …”, because I was so afraid: he looks so fragile.

“Tatay na ako!”

To my students, this was the reason why the Course Cards distribution scheduled for last night was moved to this morning. See you all next term, still have to get some sleep after submitting the grades today.

Installing PlainCart in your website will not give you the Philippine Peso as an option to be the default currency. If your target market is in the Philippines, and you would like to use the Philippine Peso as the currency to be used in your online store, you may need to tweak your MySQL database.

1. Login to your cPanel and launch the PHPMyAdmin module.
2. In PHPMyAdmin, choose the database you used for PlainCart, and locate the table “tbl_currency”.
3. Once “tbl_currency” is selected, click on the Insert tab.
4. In the field “cy_code”, key-in PHP or Philippine Peso or whatever currency you wish to use; in the “cy_symbol” field, type the currency symbol. Click on the Go button.
5. Login to the Shop Admin of your PlainCart installation and select the currency that you wish to be used as the default in your online store.

If you are helped by this tip, I will appreciate you sending me a US$2
