Unlimited Storage for Yahoo!Mail Users

Had you checked the storage meter of your Yahoo!Mail recently? If you cannot see the storage meter of your mailbox, it only meeans one thing: your Yahoo!Mail had just been upgraded to Unlimited Storage! No joke.

After ten (10) years, the big bosses at Yahoo! recently announced that they will be rolling-out the with the upgrade of giving unlimited email storage to all users. And the only indicator that your account had already been upgraded is when you cease to see the storage meter in your Mail Welcome page.

I hardly use my Y!Mail, if not for Y!M. I’m still waiting on what will Google (GMail) has to say about this news from their competitor.

First Typhoon for 2007

Could this mean that summer may already be over? Tropical Depression Amang had just entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility. It is somewhere off Samar island. If you want to see the latest weather satellite images, you may head on to http://www.bobreyes.com/weather but just take note that the time indicated is in Zulu (GMT). That means, if the time indicated in the satellite image is 0933Z, you will have to add 0800 to it, thus reading it as 1733H or 5:33pm.

Reviving an Old Online Account

At home all day long (thanks to the flu virus!), was reading to a bunch of archived emails in my @bobreyes.com mailbox and I stumbled upon a notification that I have a cheque (in US$) waiting for my go signal to be delivered.

At first, I thought it was SPAM, but when I logged-in to the site and checked, it has been almost 2 years already since the last time I checked that site out. What’s the site name? Click on the banner and start earning now by simply reading emails. They will even give you a sign-up bonus of $10 and send you your first cheque once your account reaches US$25.

Election Day 2007

My dad and I were at the polling precint two blocks away from our house by 0830H. Since we already know our precint number, we did not have a hard time locating our poll room.

But, to our surprise, my dad & my name were not on the list posted at the door of the polling precint. So I went directly to the BEI and asked if our names are on the master list. Apparently, our names were not on the Voter’s List, but was at the Master’s List.

So they handed us the ballots (take note) with having us sign on anything. So I asked the BEI if I have to sign on anything, and she just said that it was OK. After casting our votes, my dad & i headed back home.

Ten minutes later, one of our neighbors, whom we saw at the polling precint acting as a watcher for PDP-Laban (GO Binay!), came knocking on our gate and asked me & my dad to go back to the polling precint due to some problem. When my dad & I went out of our house heading to the polling precint the second time, I told them .. let me guess, they (the BEI) realized that we forgot to sign on the list.

Yes, I was correct! When they thought that our names were not on the list, they reviewed the Voter’s List and indeed, my dad’s name, my brother, mother, and I were in it (with matching pictures!). So they asked us to sign in the list.

Wish That We Have iTALC In The Labs

A very useful software that can be used and download for FREE at http://italc.sourceforge.net

What is iTALC?

“iTALC is a use- and powerful didactical tool for teachers. It lets you view and control other computers in your network in several ways. It supports Linux and Windows 2000/XP/Vista and it even can be used transparently in mixed environments!

In contrast to widely used commercial equivalent software, iTALC is free! This means you do not have to pay for expensive licenses or things like that. Furthermore the source-code is freely available and you’re free in changing the software to fit your needs as long as you respect the terms of iTALC’s license (GPL). Freedom in two ways!

Features

iTALC has been designed for usage in school. Therefore it offers a lot of possibilities to teachers, such as

  • see what’s going on in computer-labs by using overview mode and make snapshots
  • remote-control computers to support and help other people
  • show a demo (either in fullscreen or in a window) – the teacher’s screen is shown on all student’s computers in realtime
  • lock workstations for moving undivided attention to teacher
  • send text-messages to students
  • powering on/off and rebooting computers per remote
  • remote logon and logoff and remote execution of arbitrary commands/scripts
  • home-schooling – iTALC’s network-technology is not restricted to a subnet and therefore students at home can join lessons via VPN-connections just by installing iTALC client

Furthermore iTALC is optimized for usage on multi-core systems (by making heavy use of threads). No matter how many cores you have, iTALC can make use of all of them.”

What The H**l are They Doing There?

On my way home, at around 2130H last night, 09 May 2007, bought some food items at 7-11 at the corner of Libertad & Burgos Sts. in Pasay City. Upon leaving 7-11, I noticed that there were two (02) uniformed police officers chatting to the sidewalk vendor. Didn’t care about them.

When I crossed the street, I noticed three (03) more policemen: one standing at the back of their vehicle, the other two inside the police car. What caught my attention was the mark on their vehicle: 1st PCAS (Police Center for Aviation Security). Sounds familiar!

Now, being a tax payer, I would just like to ask what the heck are these policemen doing in front of the Solutions Gay Bar that time of the evening? Don’t tell me that they have an operation, because that place is beyond five (05) kilometers from the airport, where they are supposed to be patrolling.
