Let me tell you of these two stories:
One: My dad and mom recently attended a family gathering at McDonald’s in Evangelista Makati City. During the course of the gathering, my dad chanced upon this neatly-dressed and groomed guy, who seems to be finding a vacant seat that night at the said fastfood branch. Minutes later, what my dad and mom saw really shocked them, and I was, too when they told me about it the next day: the guy wait for a couple to finish their meal. Once the couple had left their seats, this guy poured the leftover meals and drinks to one of the styro containers and went to the comfort room. This really broke my heart into pieces. My dad checked on the guy at the CR to give him some food, but he was too late, the guy already left.
Two: We visited my aunt at the PGH yesterday. We had decided to just take the LRT on our way to the hospital, for a change. Leaving the hospital, on our way to Makati City, we decided to take the jeepney. Somewhere in Pedro Gil, there was this young guy who boarded the jeepney where we’re in and began wiping all the shoes of the passengers (including my mom’s feet, since she was just wearing sandals that time). After that, he asked each and every passenger for some alms. My dad gave him some, for it seems that he had not taken any meals for days now. Again, it really broke my heart into pieces.
What’s my point in telling you these stories? Simple: what is the government doing to stop hunger? I remember this foundation that feeds the people within the vicinity of the Quiapo Church everyday (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) with “lugaw”. Then one day, the Liberal Party (wherein the President is affiliated to) will celebrate their anniversary at the Plaza Miranda (in front of the Quiapo Church), the PSG didn’t allowed the foundation to distribute meals to the poor and hungry, because they are considered to be a threat in the security of the President. Damn! Hungry persons are now considered to be a security threat?! Well, atleast it is because they at the government always have full stomachs. Thanks to the “people” who had “voted” for them.

Since today is the birthday of my dear cousin, another clipping from the Philippine Star:

Boyet Bautista uncorked an eight-point splurge in the final two minutes as Toyota Otis edged Granny Goose, 68-67, yesterday to close in on Montana in the PBL Unity Cup at the Olivarez Sports Center.
Bautista flicked two straight triples that turned a 60-62 deficit into a 66-62 lead with over a minute remaining in the contest although the Tortillos strung up five unanswered points to regain control, 67-66.
But the 5’10″ Letran standout drove past Kelvin dela Pena off a Mark Andaya screen in the ensuing Toyota offensive and then launched baseline shot over the outstretched arms of Abby Santos that went in.
With 7.7 seconds left, Dela Pena, who scored the game-winner in Granny Goose’s 62-61 win over Rain or Shine before the Lenten break, threw a wayward shot before Andaya foiled Alfie Grijaldo’s putback as time expired, triggering a celebration at the Toyota bench.
The victory thus hiked Sparks’ record to 5-2, staying just half-a-game behind the pacesetting Montana Jewels (5-1).

The smallest guy in the lineup stood tallest yesterday.
Boyet Bautista came through with a magnificent one-man show late in the game to lift Toyota Otis to a pulsating 68-67 win over Granny Goose Tortillos and into solo second in the 2006 PBL Unity Cup at the Olivarez Sports Center in Parañaque.
The 5-foot-7 Bautista scored Toyota Otis’ final eight points, including a tough lay-up with just seven ticks left in powering the Sparks to their fifth win in seven starts.
Earlier, Hapee Philippine Christian University deepened the wounds of TeleTech yesterday as the Teethmasters handed the Titans a 68-63 setback.
Banking heavily on the backcourt tandem of Jason Castro and Mark Moreno, the Teethmasters made a decisive run in the third period and then withstood Teletech’s spirited challenge late in the game to close out its first-round campaign on a high note.
With the Sparks trailing 60-62, Bautista ignited a wild celebration for Toyota Otis supporters when he buried back-to-back 3-point shots that gave them a 66-64 lead.
Although the Snackmasters managed to grab the lead following a three-point play by Jireh Ibanez and two free throws from Alfie Grijaldo, the Sparks were not to be denied.
Like a tornado, Bautista blew past his defenders to score the game-winning shot. The win was a fitting rebound from their setback to Magnolia two days ago.
Bautista finished with 13 points — all in the final half.
JR Quinahan tallied 28 points for Granny Goose but was scoreless in the final quarter.
After a quiet performance in the first half, the 5-foot-10 Castro went berserk in the final quarter, scoring 11 of his 19 points in leading the Teethmasters to their third win in seven games.
The Titans absorbed their fourth straight defeat for a 1-6 record. They need to win all their remaining five games to have a chance of playing in the quarterfinal round.
“I have to give it to my players, especially Jason and Mark who delivered the big baskets when we needed them most,” said coach Junel Baculi. “But we have to play harder in our next games if we want to advance in the next round.”

Families and victims waited years for these criminals to finally face the law and for them to receive justice. But two days ago, the President made a statement that she will commute all death sentences to just life in prisonment.
This is insane!

Finally! Just before lunch time today, I had submitted the grades of my students for the third term of SY2005-2006. Wheew! Mortality rate: 10 out of 39 failed.
Last night, I was one of the panelists for Jenn Huang’s class (thanks for signing my guestbook here!). It’s such a pity to see that some students, whom I know had already taken Jenn’s subject more than once, are still failing because of their own faults: not complying with the subject’s requirements.
I am pretty sure that they will feel Biyernes Santo this year. Hehehe.
Seriously, it’s Holy Wednesday today. Tomorrow, I will devote my afternoon til midnight touring churches, reciting tThe Way of the Cross and will try to attend the vigil at SIP.
Let’s be holy this week, ok?

Apple Computer, Inc. had just launched a Beta of it’s new tool: Boot Camp software. What does it do?
Well, it lets computer users with a Microsoft Windows XP installation disk load that system on a Mac (of course, with an Intel processor). Some sort of a boot loader, as it will let the user to switch between Mac OS and Windows XP by rebooting the machine.
Oh, by the way, did I mentioned that the new tool can be downloaded for free?
