The Philippine Baskeball Association (PBL) had just opened last Saturday at the San Andres Gym. Yesterday, Toyota-Otis Sparks won over Hapee-PCU, 77-73.
To quote some clippings in local newspapers and website today about my cousin Boyet Bautista:
“Toyota-Otis leaned on Filipino American Joe Devance and peppery guard Boyet Bautista in the crucial stretch to beat Hapee Toothpaste, 77-73, Sunday in the 2006 Philippine Basketball League Unity Cup at the De La Salle Greenhills.
The 6-foot-7 Devance received a perfect pass from Bautista and hit an undergoal shot to give Toyota a decisive 75-73 lead with only 10 seconds remaining in the game.”
