Internet + Computer = Life! (version 3.20 build update 21012012)

The Country Under 1017

With all the funfare about the supposed to be Coup last week, the President placed the entire country under a State of Emergency (Proclamation 1017) — sounds familiar, especially to those who are already alive when Martial Law was declared by Marcos.

Some luminaries and known Arroyo critics had already been arrested since Friday, including Prof. Randy David.

Over the weekend, the Palace also asked the media (TV, Radio, and Print) not to cover events that may spark the masses ideology.

Yesterday, the Daily Tribune has been placed under the control of the government, citing reasons that the paper promotes ideas for the public clamor to go against with the government.

My question now is this: When will the government start censorship of the internet, the Pinoy Bloggers in particular? When will this stupidity end?

Coup Plot Bared

0630H: Classes in the Elementary and Secondary Levels were suspended by the Department of Education (DepEd) following reports of troop movements in different camps all over Luzon.

0645H: The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) suspends all classes in the Tertiary (College) Level.

0700H: The AFP had a Press Release confirming that the Coup Plot is indeed true!

0800H: Number Coding (UVVRP) suspended by MMDA.

0900H: Palace employees are sent home. Police and military will secure the MalacaƱang.

1125H: It’s very very odd! No traffic at the Sales Bridge leading to Fort Bonifacio and Villamor Air Base.

1145H: The Palace declares a State of Emergency. Anyone can now be arrested even without a Warrant of Arrest. Scary.

1400H: Professor Randy David was arrested for leading an Anti-Arroyo protest in Santolan, QC.

I am just two (02) miles out of Villamor Air Base and Fort Bonifacio, and all roads leading to these camps are heavily guarded. Will post updates as soon as I can.

Rosales Now a Cardinal!

Cardinal RosalesPope Benedict XVI yesterday announced the confirmation of Archbishop Gaudencio B. Rosales as a Cardinal effective 24 March 2006.

Cardinal Rosales is among the fifteen newly promoted Bishops & Archbishops worldwide.

Before this came out in the late night news yesterday, the Papal Nuncio (Ambassador of the Pope in the country) requested the presence of Bishop Rosales during his mass at the Manila Cathedral, thus making the announcement during his homily there.
With the announcement, the Philippines now has a total of three (03) Cardinals to date.

Mabuhay, His Eminence Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales!

My POV on PBB

With just fifteen (15) days of being inside the house of “Kuya”, one of the “housemates” already had quit, another one already told “Kuya” her intention of going out, and another one is about to face her superiors for being in AWOL from the service.

Angela -- first to go out of the house.

The idea of the Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) is great, but it really degrades the idea of family — the Filipino Family, in general.

To be continued …

Tradegy at Leyte

It’s been barely less than a month since the tradegy at ULTRA, where around 70 lives perished, just yesterday a mudslide was trigerred at St. Bernard in Leyte. As of this writing, around 30 bodies has been recovered from the mudslide already. What really shocked me and my officemates last night (when we saw the headline in CNN) was the fact that around 1,500 are still missing and are feared to be dead by now.

Let us all pray for the souls of those who perished in this calamity, and for the safety of those who may still be alive and had survived the catastrophe.

GMail Chat Now Available!

The creative minds at Google never loses fresh new ideas. Announcing the launch of GMail Chat!

My GMail Screen Now with Chat!

In addition to the sleek webmail interface of GMail, Google Talk! users can now chat from within GMail. Notice the small box on the lower right side of my GMail screen?
Wow! Now, that’s technology! Rumors are now circulating that Yahoo! will be launching a similar feature to their Y!Mail service. Currently, what Y!Mail does is it tells you whether a contact (using Y!Mail, too) is online or not. If the contact is online, you can click on his/her name and Y!Messenger (if installed on your computer) will automatically launch a new chat window.

But what makes GMail Chat unique is that you don’t need to install anything to use it. This is great, especially if you’re surfing thru the computer terminals at Netopia (where the Admins are so paranoid).

I am just wondering what will happen if let’s say ten (10) of your contacts sends messages to you simultaneously? Just imagine the clutter it will bring to your GMail screen. Hehehe.

I Missed the R2 Launch :(

On my schedule yesterday was to attend the Windows Server 2003 R2 at the Shangri-La Hotel Makati City. But, I was advised Thursday night that my office needs something to be submitted to the upper management by Friday. I was in the office as early as 0600H yesterday just to finish that thing early and be able to catch the event by lunch time.

I left the office at around 1200H. Wow! Traffic was everywhere! I reached home at 1400H, too late for me to catch up at the events in Makati. Sayang, I think I missed a lot. :(

Tradegy at the ULTRA

As of this writing, there are seventy (70) confirmed deaths as resulted by a stampede at the ULTRA early morning today, 04 February 2006.

These people are lined-up at the gates of the football field to watch and participate in the 1st anniversary of Woo Wow Wee (did I get it right?), wherein lots of cash and goodies will be given-away.

For me, no one else is to blame but the government! Only if the government generated enough livelihood and jobs, then people will not gamble their lives falling in line for a contest like this one.
